Century Tower & Prairie Shores
Century Tower is an art deco gem which did the Chicago skyline proud in the early 20th century. Today a number of other buildings including the Builder’s Building have almost cut it off from the Chicago River. The present name has come about after several changes in its name. It's last name was Skyline Century of Progress.
The stylized corn cob at its pinnacle, the orange colored brick are unique.The main body of the building is covered with unusual purple bricks above four stores of limestone. This building once belonged to a bank and has served as consulate for many countries. This building is being converted into condos to meet the growing demand for luxury condos in Chicago
Prairie Shores
Prairie Shores is a residential complex consisting of 5 buildings each having 21 floors. The apartments were constructed in 1960's. The complex was built to serve as housing for the staff and other middle income group families near the hospital.
The buildings are located on the landscaped land close to the Lake Michigan and offer great views of of the lake and Chicago skyline. A small shopping complex separates the Hospital from the apartment buildings.
