The Edge
New developments in Chicago are becoming a cause of concern for people there. The residents believe that the $32 million project, The Edge coming up north of downtown that will have 150 condominiums is too big for the site as the redevelopment plan permits only 75 units on the site.
The proposed six stories will be too many compared to the neighboring developments. This development site is present on the North Commerce Street and will have 6 stories on the lower end along the river and 5 stories along the Commerce street. The price of one bedroom unit will be between $200,000 to 300,000.
Some of the developments coming up on the Commerce street are the 71 units Union Point, a $12 million, 44,000square foot shopping center called the Pleasant Street Market. The approval of the redevelopment authority on the higher number of units and stories in The Edge project is expected as the developers have agreed to abide by certain condition including the variation in the buildings front elevation.
